High School Ambassador Leadership Program

Do you want to…



• Meet and work with like-minded and passionate people?
• Develop leadership, organization, communication, and even marketing skills in a unique community project?
• Be more involved in and aware of the school community, and take part in establishing a legacy?
• Network with student leaders across the city, province, and country?
• Contribute to a great cause?
• Have a unique experience to include on your résumé?
• Get volunteer hours and provide volunteer opportunities?

If you are a high school student in Canada, then we’d love for you to become a Literacy Ambassador and Sp.LIT Chapter President! If you are a university student, we have space for you on our Board of Directors!

Ambassador/ Chapter Presidents


Tasks:
• Organize a school-wide Spelling Bee open to all students in support of children’s literacy
• Promote and encourage participation in the Spelling Bee within the school community
• Be an advocate for increasing literacy skills
• Send at least two representatives (Spelling Bee finalists) to the Multi-High School Spelling Bee Championship in April 2013
• Attend the Sp.LIT Leadership Conference with special guest speakers
• Attend monthly online meetings with other ambassadors
• Establish Sp.LIT at your school and ensure that a relevant club is maintained after your graduation

Board of Directors



Sp.LIT Ambassadors and University Students have the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors. As a member of the Board of Directors, you will serve in a group that engages in more discussion and higher-level management of Sp.LIT.

• Attend online monthly meetings to discuss initiatives and solve internal problems
• Be on the executive organizing committee for the Multi-High School Championships.
• Work on external affairs and gaining support from politicians, media sources, and the general public
• Further, more specific roles will be given to those interested
